Getting Back In The eBay Game

by David Miles on October 10, 2010

I remember when eBay used to be my main source of income, well it was about eight years ago back in 2002. I was about 17 years old when I started selling online. It was really fun waking up in the morning getting e-mails saying “You’ve got Cash” I even had people from around the world send me actual cash in the mail just to get some of the collectibles that I was selling on eBay. Yes you heard me right it was not uncommon for people outside of the USA to send me hundreds of dollars in cash in an envelope to my house just to get the products I was selling. Bear in mind this was many years ago, so PayPal wasn’t as big as it is right now. People outside of the United States had to find unique ways of sending the money like Western Union bank transfers checks or may favorite CASH (it’s just lots of fun opening your wail and having dollar bills in the envelope:  ).

Well in the past few years things having changed a lot. I am still selling a few collectibles on eBay like Starbucks mugs. And I buyers buying my items from all over the world I have to say in the past few years I have not had anyone say “Hey can I pay you by Cash/Check”. PayPal has taken over, and that is just fine by me. And for those of you that are following the changes eBay has been making to their site you can see that the seller have to adjust there strategies as the times change. So now you can see that eBay has moved away from being strictly auctions to more fixed-price listings, and best offers. It’s a new ballgame, and I am planning on getting back in to it in the coming months. I’m going to start ramping up my eBay sales; I’ll keep you up to date on how it goes.

eBay is now 15 years old ! ! !

If i am allready making a post about ebay i wanted to add this video, I know your going to like it : ) :

What are your thoughts about selling on eBay do you still sell on eBay? Have to be sold on eBay in the past ? If you don’t sell on eBay do you buy things on eBay? Or do you just like to jump to Amazon and do your online shipping there ? or are you more of an offline type of person and would rather walk into your nearest store ?

Beware Israel Bans the iPad over Wi-Fi concerns

Beware Israel Bans the iPad over Wi-Fi concerns

Yes you head it right Israel has band the iPad from coming in to Israel. Israel’s communications ministry didn’t give the iPad the necessary Wi-Fi clearance to operate domestically. So far, 10 iPads have been confiscated so far, no I take your iPad they give you two options:

1)      Have your iPad’s word in the customs warehouse (and on top of that you cannot pay for renting out the storage space, sorry I don’t have exact prices) and of course your iPad will be given back to you on your way out of Israel’s Ben-Gurion International Airport

2)     Arrange for your iPad to be shipped out of Israel ( who would want to ship out there brand new iPad they just got for at least $499 !)

According to Haaretz, customs at Ben-Gurion International Airport  have confiscated 10 iPads so far, including those their owners declared and on which they offered to pay the 16% VAT required by law.

I sure hope Apple sorts this out sometime soon.

So if you live in Israel and were planning on dumping your net-book and laptop for an iPad to run your business off the iPad like Paul Colligan
Seems like Israeli’s are just going to have to wait for the iPad as we did for the iPhone.
