Beware Israel Bans the iPad over Wi-Fi concerns

Yes you head it right Israel has band the iPad from coming in to Israel. Israel’s communications ministry didn’t give the iPad the necessary Wi-Fi clearance to operate domestically. So far, 10 iPads have been confiscated so far, no I take your iPad they give you two options:

1)      Have your iPad’s word in the customs warehouse (and on top of that you cannot pay for renting out the storage space, sorry I don’t have exact prices) and of course your iPad will be given back to you on your way out of Israel’s Ben-Gurion International Airport

2)     Arrange for your iPad to be shipped out of Israel ( who would want to ship out there brand new iPad they just got for at least $499 !)

According to Haaretz, customs at Ben-Gurion International Airport  have confiscated 10 iPads so far, including those their owners declared and on which they offered to pay the 16% VAT required by law.

I sure hope Apple sorts this out sometime soon.

So if you live in Israel and were planning on dumping your net-book and laptop for an iPad to run your business off the iPad like Paul Colligan …
Seems like Israeli’s are just going to have to wait for the iPad as we did for the iPhone.

I was just reading through my blog RSS feeds and I came across a post on the Google Webmaster blog that you may be interested in it was titled Google’s SEO Report Card.

The purpose of the report was to help Google’s engineers and employees better search engine optimize their product pages, that is what you get the inside scoop of how Google practices search engine optimization with their employees.

The report mostly talks about on page optimize like title tags, meta-tags, image tags and URL structure of your website and also gives a number of examples of how they use it as well and how they look at the “SEO Report Card”

What I personally liked most about the PDF report were the examples on each point.

Yes that your heard me, do you think you can run your whole business with nothing but an iPad ? Well we shall soon see! Paul Colligan is going to give it a try. Now if you don’t know Paul, well let me tell you a bit about him. I personally think this is going to be an interesting 30 days with nothing but an iPad and I look forward to seeing what tricks Paul has up his sleeves: ) after it tweaking with Paul for the past few days I think I am starting to get a feel of what he is going to be doing and the apps he is going to be using, for example using the iPad to remotely connect to his PC or Mac (something like LogMeIn). It’s kind of like using your computer just you have to use a small touch screen as screen and keyboard – That’s cool!

Now I personally can’t imagine typing on that iPad keyboard for 30 days so I sure hope one of the tricks is using an app with voice recognition like the app by Dragon Naturally Speaking which may eliminate the need of a keyboard for most cases, I personally use voice recognition on my computer daily, and I even have the application installed on my iPhone 3G and I have to say it works gr8 J.

Paul I know you think the iPad is more than just an overgrown iPhone or iPod touch you don’t have to take my word for it.  I haven’t used an iPad yet but from what I can see that’s pretty much what the iPad is : )
