I remember when eBay used to be my main source of income, well it was about eight years ago back in 2002. I was about 17 years old when I started selling online. It was really fun waking up in the morning getting e-mails saying “You’ve got Cash” I even had people from around the world send me actual cash in the mail just to get some of the collectibles that I was selling on eBay. Yes you heard me right it was not uncommon for people outside of the USA to send me hundreds of dollars in cash in an envelope to my house just to get the products I was selling. Bear in mind this was many years ago, so PayPal wasn’t as big as it is right now. People outside of the United States had to find unique ways of sending the money like Western Union bank transfers checks or may favorite CASH (it’s just lots of fun opening your wail and having dollar bills in the envelope: ).

Well in the past few years things having changed a lot. I am still selling a few collectibles on eBay like Starbucks mugs. And I buyers buying my items from all over the world I have to say in the past few years I have not had anyone say “Hey can I pay you by Cash/Check”. PayPal has taken over, and that is just fine by me. And for those of you that are following the changes eBay has been making to their site you can see that the seller have to adjust there strategies as the times change. So now you can see that eBay has moved away from being strictly auctions to more fixed-price listings, and best offers. It’s a new ballgame, and I am planning on getting back in to it in the coming months. I’m going to start ramping up my eBay sales; I’ll keep you up to date on how it goes.

eBay is now 15 years old ! ! !

If i am allready making a post about ebay i wanted to add this video, I know your going to like it : ) :

What are your thoughts about selling on eBay do you still sell on eBay? Have to be sold on eBay in the past ? If you don’t sell on eBay do you buy things on eBay? Or do you just like to jump to Amazon and do your online shipping there ? or are you more of an offline type of person and would rather walk into your nearest store ?

Beware Israel Bans the iPad over Wi-Fi concerns

Yes you head it right Israel has band the iPad from coming in to Israel. Israel’s communications ministry didn’t give the iPad the necessary Wi-Fi clearance to operate domestically. So far, 10 iPads have been confiscated so far, no I take your iPad they give you two options:

1) Have your iPad’s word in the customs warehouse (and on top of that you cannot pay for renting out the storage space, sorry I don’t have exact prices) and of course your iPad will be given back to you on your way out of Israel’s Ben-Gurion International Airport

2) Arrange for your iPad to be shipped out of Israel ( who would want to ship out there brand new iPad they just got for at least $499 !)

According to Haaretz, customs at Ben-Gurion International Airport have confiscated 10 iPads so far, including those their owners declared and on which they offered to pay the 16% VAT required by law.

I sure hope Apple sorts this out sometime soon.

So if you live in Israel and were planning on dumping your net-book and laptop for an iPad to run your business off the iPad like Paul Colligan …
Seems like Israeli’s are just going to have to wait for the iPad as we did for the iPhone.

I was just reading through my blog RSS feeds and I came across a post on the Google Webmaster blog that you may be interested in it was titled Google’s SEO Report Card.

The purpose of the report was to help Google’s engineers and employees better search engine optimize their product pages, that is what you get the inside scoop of how Google practices search engine optimization with their employees.

The report mostly talks about on page optimize like title tags, meta-tags, image tags and URL structure of your website and also gives a number of examples of how they use it as well and how they look at the “SEO Report Card”

What I personally liked most about the PDF report were the examples on each point.

Here’s a direct link to the blog post Google’s SEO Report Card.

What are your thoughts on the report?

Yes that your heard me, do you think you can run your whole business with nothing but an iPad ? Well we shall soon see! Paul Colligan is going to give it a try. Now if you don’t know Paul, well let me tell you a bit about him. Paul Colligan helps people leverage the technologies of new media to get their message out to more people… Paul also produces a number of Podcasts like Internet Marketing This Week, Marketing Online Live …Paul is also a faculty member at Stompernet.com you can read Paul’s BIO to just get a small taste of what he is involved in. I personally think this is going to be an interesting 30 days with nothing but an iPad and I look forward to seeing what tricks Paul has up his sleeves: ) after it tweaking with Paul for the past few days I think I am starting to get a feel of what he is going to be doing and the apps he is going to be using, for example using the iPad to remotely connect to his PC or Mac (something like LogMeIn). It’s kind of like using your computer just you have to use a small touch screen as screen and keyboard – That’s cool!

Now I personally can’t imagine typing on that iPad keyboard for 30 days so I sure hope one of the tricks is using an app with voice recognition like the app by Dragon Naturally Speaking which may eliminate the need of a keyboard for most cases, I personally use voice recognition on my computer daily, and I even have the application installed on my iPhone 3G and I have to say it works gr8 J.

Paul I know you think the iPad is more than just an overgrown iPhone or iPod touch you don’t have to take my word for it. I haven’t used an iPad yet but from what I can see that’s pretty much what the iPad is : )

You don’t have to take my word for it:

Here is another video from Chris Pirillo

This is sure going to be an interesting and I look forward to more updates on and results on http://www.paulsipad.com

What do you think about Paul’s 30 days iPad challenge ? ?
Would you try this on your business?

Have you tested LinkedTube?

I just discovered a cool free and easy way to embed overlay links onto YouTube videos. ? LinkedTube is a very simple and smart flash widget that enables you to create clickable links on your YouTube video with your own embed code.

The link looking like a floating button over the video on the right hand side and can be used to link directly to any site on the web like your blog, website or an affiliate link. This way you can transform any YouTube video into a useful viral promotion tool.(With a standard YouTube player it is not possible to embed links in to the video itself.)

Take a look at LinkedTube and see how this video widget can help you in your online marketing.
